JSHS Students Selected as 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholars

Congratulations to Aditya Kabra of the Connecticut JSHS for being named a 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholar. Aditya was nominated by JSHS for this distinction. Through the U.S. Department of Education, one young man and one young woman from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and U.S. families living abroad, as well as 15 chosen at-large, 20 scholars in the arts and 20 scholars in career and technical education are selected for their accomplishments.

Additionally, Ashini Modi of the Louisiana JSHS, Dhruv Pai of the Maryland JSHS, and Uma Pillai of the Virginia JSHS have also been named 2022 Presidential Scholars. These three students were present at the 60th National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Ashini presented her research, entitled “Modeling the Atmospheric Evolution of Exoplanets in the Habitable Zone of M-Dwarfs,” Dhruv presented his research, “Representation and Deep Learning on Brain Surface Data for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation,” and Uma presented her research, “Examining the Effect of Schistosoma mansoni on the Development of Peanut Allergy Using a Periplaneta americana Model.”

National delegates who participated in past National JSHS events were also selected as 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholars. David Yan of the Philadelphia JSHS competed in the 57th and 59th National JSHS events and Dheepthi Mohanraj of the North Carolina JSHS competed in the 59th National JSHS.

Congratulations to Aditya, Ashini, Dhruv, Uma, David, and Dheepthi! All six of these students will be recognized this summer during an online program.
